Public sector engineering and manufacturing enterprise Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has welcomed Koppu Sadashiv Murthy, 56, as the new CMD. He has succeeded Nalin Shinghal, who served as BHEL CMD since July 8, 2019.

Before taking up the new responsibility at BHEL, Murthy was the executive director of the Corporate Operations Management group at BHEL, and also simultaneously held additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Pumps and Compressors Limited (BPCL).

An Electrical Engineering graduate from Bhopal University with an MBA in Finance, Murthy joined BHEL in 1989 at its Jhansi manufacturing unit - a transformer & locomotive manufacturing hub.
