Darren Thayre joins SAP as Chief Revenue Officer (JAPAC) for the Business Data Cloud division

Darren Thayre has joined SAP as Chief Revenue Officer (JAPAC) for its Business Data Cloud division. Based in Singapore, Thayre will lead SAP’s efforts to help organisations across the Asia Pacific and Japan (JAPAC) region unlock the full potential of their data through the power of the cloud and artificial intelligence, he said in a LinkedIn post.

In his new role, Thayre will be responsible for driving revenue growth and market expansion for SAP’s Business Data Cloud offerings. He will focus on enabling companies to build trusted data foundations and intelligent capabilities that transform how they operate—turning data into actionable insights and delivering meaningful business outcomes. Thayre’s leadership will be pivotal as businesses navigate an era of accelerated digital transformation, where the ability to connect, understand, and act on data is more critical than ever.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, Thayre stated, “I’m excited to build on SAP’s fantastic platform to help our customers unlock the value of data and AI at scale. As enterprises face unprecedented change, I am passionate about shaping how they use AI and data to drive growth, resilience, and sustainable value in the digital economy.”

Thayre brings nearly six years of experience from Google, where he held several senior leadership positions. Most recently, he served as Director of Innovation and AI Partnership Lead, Global Strategic Initiatives, based in Singapore. In this capacity, he worked closely with a select set of strategic customers to build long-term AI and digital transformation partnerships across Google and Alphabet businesses, with the goal of jointly transforming industries. He also served as a Startup Accelerator Mentor and previously led Digital Transformation and Digital Ventures for JAPAC, partnering with Google Cloud and global enterprises to deliver large-scale transformation initiatives.

Over his more than two decades of professional journey, Thayre has worked with companies such as Oliver Wyman, Amazon Web Services, Citihub Digital, CST Technology, and Mace. He was also on the board of Calyptus and Telescope Venture, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Thayre’s background encompasses management consulting, product management, business transformation, leadership, and people development—skills that will be invaluable in his new chapter at SAP.

His appointment signals SAP’s ongoing commitment to empowering customers to harness the power of data and AI in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
