Flipkart appoints ex-Google exec Balaji Thiagarajan as CTPO to lead tech innovation and product strategy amid senior leadership exits and IPO buzz.

Flipkart has appointed seasoned tech leader Balaji Thiagarajan as its new Chief Technology and Product Officer (CTPO), marking a strategic move to bolster innovation and digital transformation across its operations.

Thiagarajan will head the company’s OneTech division, tasked with advancing Flipkart’s technology roadmap and integrating emerging tech solutions at scale. With over 25 years of experience spanning global giants like Google, Microsoft, Uber, and Yahoo, Thiagarajan brings a rich legacy of product and platform innovation.

Most recently, he founded Kasu.ai, an AI-driven platform focused on optimizing business operations—highlighting his entrepreneurial edge alongside corporate leadership. His appointment follows the departure of former CTPO Jeyandran Venugopal, who exited in February and is reportedly set to join Reliance Retail Ventures as CEO.

Flipkart has seen a wave of senior-level exits in recent months, including Ankit Jain (SVP, Grocery & Supply Chain), Prajakta Kanaglekar (VP, HR for Tech), and Anurag Singhvi (VP, Analytics). Ganesh Ramaswamy, who held leadership roles at both Flipkart and its subsidiary Cleartrip, has also moved on. As Flipkart gears up for a potential IPO, Thiagarajan’s entry signals a renewed focus on tech-led growth and organizational agility.
