M.R. Synrem, IAS officer of the 2002 batch, Assam-Meghalaya Cadre has joined the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) as the Managing Director. This will be an additional role to his existing role as Joint Secretary and Additional Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

Before the Ministry of Tourism, Synrem served as secretary in the Health & Family Welfare Department, mission director of the Meghalaya State National Health Mission, and CEO of Megha Health Insurance Scheme in Meghalaya.

He comes with adept administrative expertise in spearheading the projects, schemes, and initiatives in the Information Technology & Communications Department, the Transport Department, the Urban Affairs Department, the Commerce & Industries Department etc in his parent cadre.

Apart from running Hotels, the ITDC has diversified into non-hotel sectors like Ticketing, Tours and Travels, Event Management, Duty-Free Shopping, Publicity & Printing Consultancy, Engineering Consultancy, mounting Sound & Light Shows, Hospitality education and skill development– all under one roof.
