MG Motor India announces Gaurav Gupta as new Chief Commercial Officer

MG Motor India, a fully-owned subsidiary of SAIC Motor Corporation, has announced the formation of Customer Experience & Marketing function and has appointed Gaurav Gupta to head the division.

Gaurav, who has joined the automaker from Bridgestone Tire Indonesia, has been appointed as Chief Commercial Officer - Customer Experience & Marketing (CEM).

Rajeev Chaba, President, and Managing Director, MG Motor India said in a company statement, "It gives me great pleasure to announce the appointment of Gaurav as head of the CEM function to drive customer focus in the company. Gaurav brings rich industry experience in customer-facing areas, which are critically important for success in India. With the aggressive product line-up backed up with a core CEM team in place, it makes us confident that his experience and leadership will add immense value to the MG brand in the coming years.”

In his new role, Gaurav will oversee the marketing, sales, customer delight and dealer development functions. 

A General Motors veteran, Gaurav has worked with the company for over 20 years across markets such as India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, and China. At GM India, he served as the Director, Utility Vehicles & Strategic Planning, from 2010 to 2011, and prior to that as Director - Marketing & Product Planning from 2007 to 2010. He was also the President Director at GM Indonesia for two years from August 2015.

His appointment comes as MG Motor India aims to spread consumer awareness about the introduction of the MG brand in India, with its first product- an SUV-scheduled for launch in the second quarter of next year.
