Northern Coalfields Ltd. appoints B Sairam as new Chairman and Managing Director
Northern Coalfields Ltd, a coal mining subsidiary of Coal India, has announced the appointment of B Sairam as the new Chairman and Managing Director, with immediate effect.
In his new role, Sairam brings over three decades of industry experience encompassing mine operations, planning, logistics, and regulatory affairs.
Announcing his appointment, the government-undertaking coal mining company stated, 'Shri B. Sairam is the new Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NCL. He assumed the post on Wednesday. Shri B. Sairam brings a vast reservoir of knowledge and experience spanning over 33 years of dedicated service in the coal sector, encompassing various domains such as mine operations, planning, logistics, and regulatory affairs.'
Sairam was also honoured with a 'Guard of Honour' upon his first arrival at the company's headquarters, where he met with functional directors, area general managers, and heads of departments of the HQ.

Sairam joined Coal India Limited in 1991 and has worked in South Eastern Coalfields Ltd, Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd., Central Coalfields Ltd., and CIL Corporate HQ, in several leadership roles. Regarding his education, he holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mining from NIT Raipur and an Executive PGDM from NTPC School of Business.
