Rajkiran Rai G is new MD of National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development

Rajkiran Rai G, who started his banking career as an Agricultural Finance Officer in Central Bank of India in 1986, has been appointed as the new managing director (MD) of National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID). Effective August 8, 2022, Rai will serve as MD of NaBFID till May 18, 2027.

Rai comes with more than three decades of rich banking experience including heading Industrial Finance Branch, Regions and Zonal Offices.

Announced in Budget 2021, NaBFID is a special development financial institution for infrastructure financing. 

His appointment to the post has been approved by the Centre and the board of NaBFID based on clearance by the RBI, centre and the government-backed development finance institution (DFI), nomination and remuneration committee. 

An agricultural science graduate, Rai was appointed as Managing Director & CEO of Union Bank of India in July 2017. 

Rai was also awarded ‘CEO with HR Orientation’ by World HRD Congress for his distinguished approach to capability building through training and leadership development. He has also been conferred Honorary Fellowship by Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) in recognition of his invaluable contribution in the field of banking and finance.
