Tata Steel elevates Zubin Pallia as CHRO – India Manufacturing

With a career spanning over 25 years at Tata Steel, Pallia brings deep expertise in labor relations, HRIT, coaching, design thinking, and policy innovation.
Tata Steel has announced the elevation of Zubin Pallia as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for India Manufacturing, effective July 2025. Based in Jamshedpur, Pallia will lead the Human Resources and Industrial Relations (IR) function for Tata Steel’s extensive manufacturing ecosystem in India.
Sharing the update on LinkedIn, Pallia wrote: “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as CHRO – India Manufacturing at Tata Steel!”
In his new role, Pallia will drive workforce excellence across Tata Steel’s key manufacturing hubs in Jamshedpur, Kalinganagar, and Meramandali, as well as its engineering projects, commercial operations, finance, and profit centers.
He will also focus on strengthening industrial relations and overseeing the Center of Excellence (CoE) for contract workforce management across multiple locations.
Before this, Pallia served as Chief – Group HR & IR at Tata Steel, where he led strategic functions including talent acquisition, performance management, total rewards, leadership development, employee relations, HRM legal, and cultural transformation.
He also worked closely with 23 unions across locations and advised Tata Steel’s group companies on HR & IR matters under the 'One HRM' philosophy.
