Begbies Traynor Group appoints Mark Fry as its first CEO to drive growth, supported by a new management board and strengthened leadership structure.

Begbies Traynor Group, the financial and real estate advisory firm, has announced the appointment of Mark Fry as CEO, a newly created role on the Group board, with immediate effect. Before being elevated as CEO, he worked as an executive director and head of restructuring and advisory services.

In his new role, Mark will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Group and will drive the ongoing implementation of our growth strategy, with responsibility for overall business performance. “He will also continue to act as a senior fee earning partner. Mark joined the Group in 2005 following the acquisition of his practice, and was appointed to the Group board in 2011,” said the company in a statement.

In addition to the changes in executive responsibilities, the Group will form a new management board to support Mark and Nick Taylor, Group CFO, in managing the business on a day-to-day basis and developing and executing the growth strategy. In addition to the executive directors, the management board will include two managing partners: Julian Pitts (who takes over restructuring services from Mark) and Anthony Spencer (real estate advisory). Mark will retain management responsibilities for our financial advisory services.

Julian has been a partner in the restructuring business since 2006, following the acquisition of his practice, and is a very experienced insolvency practitioner. Most recently, Julian has managed our North East and Yorkshire practice, delivering significant growth during his tenure. Anthony joined the group in 2014 through the original acquisition of Eddisons, that created the real estate advisory division, and has led the practice through its subsequent period of significant growth.

Ric Traynor, Executive Chairman said, “Having significantly grown the group over the last ten years, now is the time to evolve and optimise our leadership structure. The changes being implemented will enable us to both manage the increased scale of the Begbies Traynor Group, whilst ensuring we have the right team in place to achieve our growth ambitions.”

Mark Fry, CEO, said, “I am delighted to have been appointed to the newly created role of Begbies Traynor Group CEO. I am looking forward to working alongside the leadership team to deliver our growth ambitions.”

“We have a very experienced and talented team underpinned by a strong culture that Ric has built up over more than thirty years, leaving us very well placed to continue to deliver for both shareholders and stakeholders."
