From expanding last-mile delivery hubs to hiring first-time workers, women, PwDs, and others, Flipkart’s festive readiness is a blueprint for inclusive growth.

Flipkart is powering India’s festive season with a massive hiring drive, creating over 2.2 lakh jobs across 28 states, while expanding its delivery network and deepening its commitment to inclusive employment.

This hiring surge aligns with a broader shift in India’s retail sector, which is driving the gig economy’s rapid expansion. According to a recent report from Deloitte in partnership with FICCI, "Spotting India's PRIME innovation moment," retail gigs now account for 40% of the gig economy, with the workforce expected to reach 23.5 million by 2030. Flipkart’s focus on flexible roles—such as pickers, packers, and delivery executives—mirrors this transformation, offering medium-skilled opportunities to first-time entrants and underrepresented communities.

The 2.2 lakh roles span warehousing, delivery, customer experience, and team leadership—driving hiring momentum across Tier 2 and 3 cities as Flipkart scales its ecosystem-first approach.

They are also focusing on a significant increase in hiring of women, PwDs and LGBTQIA+ associates compared to 2024. Notably, 15% of new hires are first-time workforce entrants, stepping into roles such as pickers, packers, sorters, and delivery executives.

Last-mile reach expansion

Flipkart’s festive readiness brings together all elements of its ecosystem - a diverse workforce, infrastructure, tech platforms, and last-mile networks - to deliver at scale while staying deeply committed to growth for all. With technology at the core of smart logistics operations, including AI-powered demand planning, advanced automation for sortation accuracy, and predictive inventory tools, Flipkart is ensuring that its supply chain is not only fast but future-ready.

Flipkart’s logistics network, which covers all serviceable pincodes, will see the expansion of 650 new festive-only delivery hubs in cities such as Siliguri, Kundli, Jakhar, including Tier 2 and 3 cities, directly and positively impacting the seasonal job ecosystem.

Inclusion, upskilling, and social impact at the core

Inclusion isn’t just a value—it’s a strategy. Flipkart has increased hiring of women, PwDs, and LGBTQIA+ associates across its supply chain, with a 10% year-on-year growth. Through partnerships with social sector organizations and its Supply Chain Operations Academy (SCOA), the company is building a future-ready workforce trained in safety, tech tools, and warehouse best practices.

Seema Nair - CHRO at Flipkart says, “At Flipkart, The Big Billion Days is a celebration of scale, speed, and shared progress. This year, we have strengthened our capabilities ahead of the festive season, focusing on building an inclusive workforce, expanding our supply chain people network, and creating more inclusive job opportunities in the ecosystem, backed by technology and sustainable practices. Our focus on festive readiness is on creating lasting value for the communities and partners who power our network and daily deliveries.”
