Banmali Agrawala joins Tata Sons’ leadership team
Another addition to the Tata Sons leadership team as Banmali Agrawala joins as President, Infrastructure, Defence and Aerospace. He will take up the new role effectively from October 1, 2017.
Prior to this Banmali was the President & CEO of GE South Asia from February 2013 and before this, he was the Executive Director on the Board of Tata Power.
On his appointment, Banmali Agrawala shares that he is looking forward for the opportunity of working with Tata group and related sectors. He says, “I am delighted to be back as part of the Tata group and contribute towards the phenomenal opportunities that the Tata group has in the core infrastructure related sectors, in India as well as globally. I was privileged to be part of GE for close to six years and have learnt a lot at GE. I look forward to taking all my learnings and experience from GE onto my new role at Tata Sons,”
He will be reporting to N. Chandrasekaran, Executive Chairman, who feels Bannmali will bring a substantive contribution in areas like digital infrastructure, innovation and technology, and leadership development.
He avers, “The Tata group has a significant footprint in the infrastructure, defence and aerospace sectors. Banmali’s global experience in these industries will be very beneficial as we build scale and aspire for the next phase of growth. As part of the Tata Sons leadership team, his knowledge in several areas, including leadership development, digital infrastructure, innovation and technology, will be very beneficial to the Tata group.”
Recently, several key appointments took place at Tata Sons. As reported by People Matters, Tata Sons appointed Aarthi Subramanian as the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) for the company, who was an executive director at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). In the Month of May, Tata Sons appointed Saurabh Agrawal as the group Chief Financial Officer of the company.
