Facebook with an aim to train more than half a million people in India by 2020 has launched digital training and startup training hubs in the country. The company has tied up with local partners to help them execute the vision. 

“We worked with local organisations, including Digital Vidya, EDII (Enterpreneurship Development Institute of India), DharmaLife and StartupIndia, to develop the learning curriculum, which is available on mobile in English and Hindi,” Facebook said in a statement.

The curriculum of the courses is personalized and is available in Hindi and English on mobile. Through this, Facebook is aiming to help tech entrepreneurs and digital knowledge seekers and would help them with regards to protecting their ideas, building an online reputation, navigating the legal and regulatory hurdles.

While the Facebook Digital Training Hub would provide content marketing and social media basics, the Facebook Startup Training Hub would help developers and tech startups to build better products and businesses.

Ritesh Mehta, Head of Programs, Facebook, India & South Asia, said in a statement, “We want more people to be have the opportunity to build their skills, build a business or build something for their community — because investing in people can lead to incredible things.” 

Since 2011, Facebook has been investing capital in initiatives globally with the intention to help people develop digital and entrepreneurial skills. ‘Boost Your Business’ and ‘SheMeansBusiness’ have had success in India in the past.
