Former Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka has been nominated to the supervisory board of BMW Group and his term extends to 2023, the luxury carmaker said.

BMW, which is betting on autonomous driving and electric mobility, held its annual general body meeting yesterday in Munich. The company said Sikka had no other board nominations.

Post-departure from Infosys in 2017 after a clash with company founder NR Narayana Murthy over corporate governance issues,  Sikka has been working on an artificial intelligence startup.

Sikka has also joined Stanford University’s artificial intelligence centre in March as a member of the advisory committee, along with former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer. He was also a board member of business software maker SAP before joining Infosys in 2014.

The BMW Group, a pioneer in electromobility, is rapidly expanding its range of electrified vehicles. Within two years, the company will offer five fully-electric series-production vehicles.
