Kinjal Choudhary joins Volvo-Eicher as Group CHRO
Kinjal Choudhary, the former director and head of human resources for India operations at Amazon, has recently joined Volvo-Eicher in the capacity of Senior Vice President and Group CHRO.
This is a Group Head HR role for the Volvo-Eicher (VE) joint venture, which is approximately a US$ 1.5 billion company in India, with approximately 16,000 employees. It has four distinct lines of business: Eicher Trucks & Buses, Volvo Trucks India, VE Power Trains and Eicher Engineering Components.
Throwing more light on his role, Kinjal said: “My mandate is to set up best-in-class HR processes in talent, organization and culture. This requires both consolidating and putting in place leadership competencies, best -in-class hiring processes, building an EVP for the organization, focusing on talent development for future readiness and creating an employee experience which leads to high employee commitment”.
Before taking up the assignment at Volvo-Eicher, Kinjal also essayed the role of senior director for seven months, at China Fortune Land Development Co. Ltd. Talking about his experience at the company, he said: “It was a very good learning in terms of setting up an organization from scratch and putting in place all HR systems and processes; and learning to work in a completely different work culture from what I had experienced below. Chinese work culture is very different from the west or the Indian work culture and I thoroughly enjoyed working over there. It is just that the Volvo-Eicher opportunity was extremely compelling from every perspective and hence the move”.
A management graduate from XLRI Jamshedpur, Kinjal has over 21 years of experience across diverse organizations like ITC, Hindustan Unilever and PepsiCo. He is a Hogan certified coach, and also delivers guest lectures at premier B-Schools like IIM Calcutta and SIBM Bangalore.
