Online brokerage firm Upstox appoints new CTO

Online brokerage firm Upstox has appointed Thippesha Dyamappa, former director of software development and international retail at Amazon, as its new Chief Technology Officer.

In his new role, Dyamappa will spearhead the task of upgrading Upstox’s technology stack as the Indian stock market looks forward to some mega-IPOs in the coming months. Notable among them are those of state-owned Life Insurance Corporation of India and fintech major Paytm.

Dyamappa will also help towards enabling the brokerage firm to make its foray into global markets.

Formerly known as RKSV Securities, Upstox was founded in 2008 as a proprietary trading firm. It entered the retail brokerage space in 2012 and has been backed by industrialist Ratan Tata and private equity firm Tiger Global.

Dyamappa is an experienced technology executive with 20+ years of software engineering experience in building best-in-class organizations with 600+ FTEs in 6 countries (US, India, Jordan, China, UAE, and Brazil). He has successfully built innovative, scalable, and operationally excellent services and products for B2C in e-Commerce. In his previous roles, he has worked for over 9 years with Amazon and with travel tech firm Sabre Holdings for over a decade. It is this deep expertise that he brings to Upstox as the firm eyes a bigger share in the highly competitive online stock broking segment.
