OYO names former McKinsey executive as COO
OYO Hotels and Homes has named Ankit Gupta as the Chief Operating Officer and SVP - frontier businesses, OYO India and South Asia, as per a company statement. Frontier businesses will comprise OYO’s self-operated hotels (OYO Townhouse, Collection O, SilverKey), student housing and co-living and OYO Home businesses.
Rohit Kapoor, CEO, OYO India and South Asia stated, “Over the last six years, we have invested in building distinctive capabilities in the acquisition, renovation, and upgradation of different forms of real estate. This has helped us offer our patrons unique living experiences while creating value for our asset owners. Ankit’s addition to the team will further help us strengthen our capabilities and drive financial prudence with a clear path to profitability.”
Rohit added that Ankit’s industry knowledge coupled with financial expertise will help the company drive the next phase of sustainable growth for frontier businesses while remaining true to its core mission.
Ankit comes with has over 14 years of experience and is entrusted with the responsibility to strengthen and consolidate existing opportunities in the co-living, student housing, self-operated hotels, and rental homes businesses of the company in India and South Asia under the frontier businesses umbrella. He will lead Oyo Life, OYO Townhouse, Collection O, SilverKey and OYO Home in the country.
Prior to this, Ankit, an alumnus of IIT Bombay, was working at McKinsey & Co where, as a tenured partner, where he was the global leader of their real estate transformation practice with a mandate to drive P&L impact improvement (scale and profitability) for real estate clients.
Ankit’s appointment comes as a part of the company’s efforts to continue to invest in and attract world-class leadership, to drive innovation and growth in the company. In this direction, OYO Hotels & Homes announced top-level changes in the beginning of this month, elevating and adding Aditya Ghosh to the company’s board of directors and Rohit Kapoor as the CEO for the entire India and South Asia business.
