Advertising agency Cheil India promoted its Chief Digital Officer Sanjeev Jasani to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO).
This promotion was a key step for the company to move forward in its goal of becoming a leader in digitally-led private marketing solutions. Jasani started working with Cheil India in 2015. He joined Cheil after working with Oglivy Delhi in the role of Senior Vice President and Digital Head. Having worked with Oglivy and Mather for more than 14 years, he has also been a part of JWT and Contract Advertising.
“In my time as Chief Digital Officer, I have literally seen the transformation of Cheil India into a digital powerhouse,” said Jasani. “In my view digital can no longer be a vertical in the agency and has to be a part of the agency fabric as a horizontal, stretching across various aspects of the clients’ business from communications to commerce.”
Jasani would be replacing Atika Malik who will be reassuming her role as the Chief Strategy Officer of the agency. Having joined Cheil India in 2017 as Chief Strategy Officer, she was promoted to the role of COO in January 2018.
As Jasani takes on the role of the Chief Operating Officer of Cheil India, it also points towards a shift in the market conditions wherein digital has become the focus area for businesses across various sectors. It is precisely why organizations are increasingly valuing digital acumen even in COO roles.
