While SoftBank closes in on finalizing the sale of Snapdeal to Flipkart, Snapdeal’s human resources head Saurabh Nigam has quit the company, and will move to a new role soon.

“It has been a true honor to work with an outstanding team and exceptional leaders. It is now time to paint a new canvas”, Saurabh told People Matters. The details of his next stint will be disclosed in due course of time, he said.

After Saurabh’s exit, Pravin Kutty, who is currently serving as the Associate Vice President - Human Resources, will be heading the HR function, according to a media report.

Pravin has been with Snapdeal for over two years, and has a rich experience of more than 14 years in human resource management roles.

Saurabh quits close on the heels of Ashish Chandra, the erstwhile Group General Counsel’s exit, and will be the latest addition to the list of top-level exits in the company, which includes Tony Navin, Sandeep Komaravelly and Abhishek Kumar, among others.

While Snapdeal has seen a number of employee layoffs and senior exits in the recent past, the organizational workforce was scaled up from a little less than 1000 people to almost 7000 in less than a year from 2014 to 2015. Snapdeal was featured as one of the top 10 organizations to work for in the retail industry in 2015, by the Great Place To Work (GPTW) institute, and also won the Golden Peacock Award For HR Excellence in 2016.

On being asked about his plans for the future, Saurabh said: “I will continue to work towards creating innovative people practices which in turn have positive business impact. I will look forward to doing so on a much broader canvas across different industries.”
