Toshiba India promotes Shuichi Ito, as the new Managing Director (MD), effective October 1, 2021. He will be succeeding Tomohiko Okada in the role, who has headed the operations of the company for five years. In the role, he will drive the growth of the company throughout the country.  

He joined Toshiba in 2016 as the Director – Sales at Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd. where he worked on sales expansion in and outside India. 

He is a law graduate from the Kyushu University of Japan and comes with more than three decades of vast career span during which he has held several leadership roles in international operations, business development, sales, and other commercial functions in the energy infrastructure business field across Asia and South America.  

His association with India dates back to the early days of his career in 1991 when he started with the major power and energy supply entity of the country, South Asia Group of Overseas Energy Division and closely worked with the thermal power project of the company in Uttar Pradesh.

On the appointment of Shuichi, Tomohiko Okada, outgoing MD said, “Toshiba has been actively contributing to Indian government’s initiatives, particularly Make-in-India, Clean India, and Skill India. I believe Mr Ito is the right person to further strengthen Toshiba’s support to India and to take TIPL into its new growth phase.”
