Zomato’s Co-Founder and Head of Supply Gaurav Gupta quits after six years

Zomato's Co-Founder & Head of Supply Gaurav Gupta has resigned from the food delivery platform after six years.

“I am taking a new turn in my life and will be starting a new chapter, taking a lot from this defining chapter of my life – the last 6 years at Zomato. We have a great team now to take Zomato forward and it’s time for me to take an alternate path in my journey. I am very emotional as I write this and don’t think any words can do justice to how I am feeling right now," Gupta shared in an internal email to his colleagues.

Gupta also added that he will forever be in love with Zomato and he is proud of what he could achieve at the company with his colleagues.

Gupta, who was the Head of of Supply, joined Zomato six years ago in 2015 and he was instrumental in helping build Zomato's premium membership subscription along with its advertising and sales. His belligerent leadership was awarded with elevation to the role of co-founder in 2019.

Zomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal tweeted his best wishes to Gaurav Gupta and remembered the maverick who was the face of the company during the much-anticipated initial public offering (IPO) in August 2021.

Gupta's exit follows the exit of other C-suite executives from the company in recent years, such as Co-Founder Pankaj Chaddha, Chief Business Officer Mukund Kulashekaran and Chief Finance Officer Sameer Maheshwari, who left within six months of his appointment.
