Zomato’s Chief Business Officer Mukund Kulashekaran quits

In the latest top-level exit at online restaurant discovery and food ordering firm Zomato, Chief Business Officer Mukund Kulashekaran has resigned from his post, as per an ET report.

The resignation comes in less than five months after taking on the role. As per the report, Kulashekaran is likely to join UrbanClap. Kulashekaran had earlier resigned from the foodtech startup in December and was then retained and elevated to the post of the chief business officer.

The report adds that besides Kulashekaran, as many as 10 executives across middle and senior management levels have left Zomato in the past three months, including the global growth team based in India and regional operations teams in Australia and the United Arab Emirates.

Zomato spokesperson Naina Sahni, VP Public Relations stated, “Mukund has worked tirelessly to build the Zomato food ordering and delivery business to the market leadership position that it enjoys today. While he moves on to the next thing that he builds for Indian consumers, he (like most of our alumni) will continue to be a friend and mentor to the teams that he built at Zomato. We are not looking to fill the CBO position that Mukund held at Zomato. We are incredibly proud of the leadership team that we have in place today, and we are supremely confident that we have the right people at the right places. As we expand the canvas of our offerings, and grow as a business, we will continue bringing extraordinary experienced talent to keep building Zomato.

Mukund has worked to build Zomato’s food ordering business. He is expected to end his stint at Zomato by the end of this month.

His resignation follows that of co-founder Pankaj Chaddah who quit the firm in March this year after serving for 10 years to try on something new. Last month, Zomato also appointed Sameer Maheshwary as its Chief Financial Officer.
