Jet Airways sacks the pilots involved in cockpit fight

After the reported cockpit fight between the two senior commanders of the Jet Airways flight ‘9W119’ which flew from London to Mumbai on January 1, Jet Airways has terminated services of both the commanders. Reportedly, the senior commander who was the ‘co-pilot’ slapped his deputy who was the commander of the flight. Then the cockpit was left unmanned on two occasions as the senior commander went out to bring her.

Also, it is being reported that the ‘co-pilot’ might end up losing his flying license.

As per a top official of the DCGA, “The cockpit fight was shocking and a very serious incident. Both the pilots were out of the cockpit a couple of times and there was no one there. What if they had been locked out of the cockpit? This is unheard of and calls for extreme action.”

If the license of the co-pilot gets canceled, it would mean that he would not be able to operate the plane and will only fly as a passenger.

While the probe to examine the role of the commander is underway, there is no such extreme action that has been undertaken against her as yet because she left the cockpit when the co-pilot was still inside. As per the rules laid out by DCGA, one pilot can leave the cockpit as long as the co-pilot is still inside the cockpit.
