Freshworks lays off 2% of its total workforce

Indian SaaS players and other companies are coming out with various cost-cutting measures, including job cuts in recent times.

After Chargebee, Salesforce and Zendesk among other software-as-a-service (SaaS) majors, Freshworks has slashed around 2% of its total workforce, the majority of them from India. 

Currently, the company has a total strength of 5200 people. The move described as organisational changes is aimed to create better alignment across the company, the company said in a statement.

Besides SaaS companies, other companies such as Citi Group, Cisco, Pluralsight, Goldman Sachs, Vedantu, and Morgan Stanley are among other companies where employees were sacked after slowdown hit the US market. Indian SaaS players and other companies are coming out with various cost-cutting measures, including job cuts in recent times.

Globally, more than 42,000 workers have been kicked out of their jobs, with some blaming it on the pandemic, others on hiring too many people during growth periods.
