Facebook India is on a lookout for a Tax Head to manage compliance and audits in the country, besides filling positions for public policy.

The job responsibilities of the Tax Head will include filling positions for public policy, developing and managing the company’s election efforts in India and other markets and oversee relationships with candidates, political parties and the election authority. The manager is also expected to ensure compliance with local transfer pricing obligations, along with supporting and assisting quarterly tax accounting and reporting.

According to media reports, the leader for election efforts will develop the overall strategy for each country’s polls in coordination with other global teams in the company. According to Rituparna Chakraborty, Co-founder of staffing company TeamLease Service, Social media companies are hiring employees with knowledge of cyber-security and other social media threats to protect the company’s network. It helps in upcoming activities like elections by interpreting and observing political information, events and election coverage with proper cyber-security.” Chakraborty further said the organizations are looking for employees with political experience or exposure to electoral campaigns as they plan to strengthen scrutiny of public policy strategies.

It is also reported that WhatsApp is also looking for managers for election security and policy programmes. A WhatsApp spokesperson was quoted saying, “Our new head of WhatsApp India, who will be named by the end of the year, will build a local team that can serve our customers in India as well as work with partners and government leaders to help keep people safe."
