Myntra has announced that Amar Nagaram is stepping down as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the e-retail company to start his own venture. The news comes close on the heels of Myntra’s Business Development Head R Ayyapan being given the reins to lead Cleartrip, an online travel booking portal that Flipkart acquired in April 2021.

Nagaram was Senior Vice President at Flipkart and took over as Myntra’s CEO in January 2019 when Ananth Narayanan abruptly quit after Walmart’s takeover of Flipkart. He had been headlining the company for the past three years.

Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO, Flipkart Group said in a mail to employees, “Amar Nagaram, CEO of Myntra, has been a strong enabler, under whose leadership the company has delivered highly engaging and personalized fashion experiences for customers. After nearly three years of leading Myntra, Amar has decided to leave the Flipkart Group to pursue his own venture."

Kalyan Krishnamurthy also said that Amar has been an integral part of the group for close to 10 years and has led various teams at Flipkart prior to his current role and the team will miss his presence.

Nagaram will now serve in an advisory capacity till December to ensure a smooth transition.
