Cisco President (India and SAARC) Sameer Garde has quit his post after spending four years at the global networking solutions provider. Garde had taken over as the President of Cisco's India and SAARC operations in July 2017. He will continue in his position till the end of July this year.

The development was confirmed by Cisco. In a statement, the firm said, “He has had a tremendous impact on our business over the past four years. We thank him for his contributions to Cisco and wish him the very best in his future endeavors."

While it is not clear what will be Garde's next move, sources said he could make a foray in the social sector. Meanwhile, the company is looking for his successor and is expected to make an announcement in the coming few weeks.

Under Garde's leadership, Cisco- which posted global revenue of USD 49.3 Bn in the fiscal ended July 2020- has registered strong growth in its India business, making the country one of its highest growing markets. As per a statement by Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins in 2019, India is "one of the most consistent growth markets" for the company, and is on track to contribute 10 percent of its business in 5-10 years.
