Dr N S Rajan parts ways as Tata Group CHRO?
While there are hundreds of speculations on why Cyrus Mistry was removed from the key position of Chairman at Tata Sons, speculations are rife that the other members who also had to relinquish their leadership positions are Group Executive Council and Group CHRO Dr N S Rajan, Strategist Nirmalya Kumar, Business Development Officer Madhu Kannan.
Since there is no clarity on the GEC and what will happen to the members, the news couldn't be confirmed.
After taking over as the Chairman of Tata Sons, Mistry had instituted a few key advisors in his Group Executive Council. Along with Dr N S Rajan, Nirmalya Kumar, and Madhu Kannan, Mistry had also appointed Harish Bhat and Mukund Rajan.
While Dr Rajan has not updated his LinkedIn profile with the changes, the Tata Group has removed his profile links/articles from its website ‘About Us’ leadership page – when you click on the hyperlink, it re-directs you with the message – “The page you are looking for has been moved or removed. Use the links on top to explore the site, or go to the tata.com homepage“.
However, the news couldn't be confirmed from either Tata or Dr Rajan.
Dr Rajan was appointed as the member of the Group Executive Council and Group Chief Human Resource Officer in 2013 reporting to Cyrus Mistry. Previously, he had joined EY in 2001 as Indian people and Organization (P&O) practice leader. His expertise spans the entire value chain of HR, and he has rendered consulting services to boards and senior management teams. His three decades of work experience spans industry and consulting, in both line and staff functions.
An alumnus of Loyola College, Chennai, and XLRI, Jamshedpur, Mr Rajan is currently pursuing doctoral studies with the IIT, Delhi. He is the former national president of the National HRD Network, the country's premier association of the human resources fraternity, having spearheaded seminal changes through the Board.
