Ex-CPO of Snapdeal Anand Chandrasekaran quits Facebook

Anand Chandrasekaran, who till now was the director of platforms and product partnerships at Facebook based in its Menlo Park headquarters, has left the company, as per an ET report.

Anand’s departure marks the end of a two-year stint which began in September 2016, where he had joined to work on Facebook’s popular Messenger product.

As per the report, Chandrasekaran, who is also an active angel investor in the Indian startup ecosystem, is said to be exploring outside opportunities in the Bay Area.

While Anand had initially joined Facebook to work on the tech giant’s Messenger platform, he began overseeing the company’s India business, acting as a bridge between the two markets. 

A former Yahoo executive responsible for search and mobile, Anand had earlier joined Snapdeal as its product head at the time ecommerce market in India was at its peak. Prior to that, he was Bharti Airtel’s chief product officer. As an angel investor, his investments include Rupeek, coworking startup Innov8, contactless payments venture Tonetag, fashion online to offline startup Fynd, among dozen others.

This September, he also backed women’s community platform, Sheroes along with Leo Capital. Lumis Partners, Raghav Bahl and Ritu Kapur’s Quintillion Media and the HR Fund also participated in the round of funding.
