HDFC’s Aditya Puri named in Barron’s Best CEOs 2018

The American publication has included Aditya Puri in the list for the fourth consecutive year recognizing him as one of the world best CEO in a growth leader category.

Barron’s, an American weekly newspaper has compiled their annual list of the World’s Best CEOs: cloud-savvy and smart acquisitions. HDFC’s Managing Director, Aditya Puri has made to the list for the consecutive fourth time.

This year, Barron’s divided the CEOs into three groups: Visionary Founders, Growth Leaders, and Turnaround Experts. Aditya Puri has been acknowledged as one of the world’s best CEO in growth leader category. The publication recognizes Puri as a leader who turned a start-up into banking giant and helped bring Indians into the modern financial era.

The list also includes Shantanu Narayen, CEO of Adobe Systems, and an Indian American. He too is recognized as one of the world’s best growth leader. Satya Nadella, another Indian American, and CEO of Microsoft has been recognized as the world’s best CEO in the turnaround experts category.

Some of the CEOs that stepped down from their posts and hence the list were David Cote of Honeywell International, Howard Schultz at Starbucks, Martin Sorrell, WPP  and Michael O’Leary at Ryanair Holdings. The list saw the newcomers like James Whitehurst at Red Hat and Jayshree Ullal at Arista Networks etc.

To arrive at the list of World's Best 30 CEOS, Barron's screened the S&P 500 index and the 250 largest non-U.S. companies for factors including revenue and earnings growth and share-price performance over the past five years.
