Srichand Parmanand Hinduja, (SP) chairman of the Hinduja Group died in London after a prolonged illness. He was 87.

“Gopichand, Prakash, Ashok, and the whole Hinduja family, with a heavy heart, regret to announce the passing away of our family patriarch, and chairman of the Hinduja Group,  S.P. Hinduja," reads a statement issued by the family.

SP aimed to promote business and humanitarian activities in India and abroad, to help build bridges between the past and the present, between India and the world, and between the generations that are and the generations that are yet to come.

Hinduja Group founded by Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja diversified its operations over a period of time. Now the group has a presence spanning across continents, interests in commercial vehicles (Ashok Leyland), lubricants (Gulf Oil), banking (IndusInd Bank), IT, media, entertainment & communications, infrastructure projects, oil & specialty chemicals, power, real estate, healthcare and other sectors.
