Landmark Group has appointed Sandeep Batra as its new Group President- HR and CHRO. Landmark Group is one of the major retail giants and operates multiple concepts and brands including, Max, Lifestyle, Easybuy, Homecentre, Krespy Kreme, Spar, etc.
Prior to Vodafone, Sandeep was the Executive Vice President and Head HR, Enterprise Business and Technology, Vodafone Idea. After an enriching career journey with Vodafone for over 12 years, Sandeep is joining Landmark Group. He is known for leading initiatives on people development and capability building to enable a future-fit business and a healthy succession pipeline.
"I would call my 12 years at Vodafone Idea (erstwhile Vodafone) as golden years. I was given the opportunity to experience a variety of roles; HR operations, COE (Talent), M&A and Strategic Business Partnering and was fortunate to have worked with exceptional leaders who have contributed immensely to my learning journey; Dr. Santrupt Mishra, Sunil Sood, Ashok Ramchandran, Suvamoy Roychoudhury, Nick Gliddon. I feel satisfied that I could add value to the organization," shares Sandeep.
On joining Landmark Group, Sandeep shares, "I am very excited to join Landmark Group, which is one of the largest retail and hospitality organizations in the Middle East, Africa, and India. I look forward to working with the Leadership team."
He further shared that his immediate priorities in his new role at Landmark Group would be:
A) Partner business so as to emerge stronger from the COVID-19 situation.
B) Build organizational capabilities to stay relevant.
C) Continuous focus on employee experience at the last mile.
Sandeep has over 27 years of experience out of which he spent his initial six years in the Indian Army. He has a wide experience working across industries like IT/ITES, Manufacturing (Automotive) and Telecom.
Sandeep is an alumnus of IIM Calcutta and has worked with companies like Vodafone Idea (erstwhile Vodafone India) EXL, Bharati Teletech Limited, Sona Koyo Steering Systems Ltd, among others.
Sandeep is replacing Venkatramana B, who is retiring as Group President-HR after a decade-long stint with the multinational retail conglomerate on 30th June, 2020. Venkatramana is a seasoned HR professional with more than 35 years of experience. In his career, he held senior management positions in large and professionally managed Indian Corporates and MNCs and worked in a variety of industries such as Manufacturing, Petrochemical, FMCG, Consulting, BPO & Retail. In the past, he has also been the Chairman of HR&ER Panel -CII Southern Region, Regional Vice President( South) - Indian Society for Training & Development among other bodies.
