The move seems to be part of Tech Giant’s ploy to make the company leaner so as to combat economic downturn, if it happened in future.

Tech behemoth Tesla has announced that it has fired their president of LGBTQIA+ community amid Elon Musk’s growing concern over world economy’ and ‘woke mind virus’. As per various media sources, Musk has been quite critical of how the economy has been turning out, quoted having a “super bad feeling” and asking Tesla executives to “pause all hiring worldwide”.

The layoffs have been part of Tesla’s wide scale plan to make itself leaner. This included the layoff of five-year veteran Bobby Beretta-Paris, a Tesla recruiter and its volunteer LGBTQ+ president.

Bobby had been promoted thrice in his five-year tenure and had volunteered to become the president of LGBTQIA+ community. An unnamed software engineer also volunteered to be the diversity lead. He too would be laid off along with Bobby.

Musk originally said the layoffs would be limited to full-time staff, as reported by Electrek, however hourly employees were ultimately included in the list of employees let go according to sources.

This would be a significant move for Tesla, a company with more than 100,000 employees, which would mean letting go of about 10,000 of them.

The CEO had recently made comments about how he believes the US is going to be in a recession for the next 18 months. Musk also said that he believes that “it is a good thing” and that “some bankruptcies need to happen.”

Musk has been taking part in a lot of Twitter debates in recent times. Recently in conversation with a fellow tweeter, he mentioned about the possibility of an economic downturn in future. He also mentioned how “woke mind virus” is “destroying civilisation”.
