Uber India’s head of marketing quits

Manisha Lath Gupta has resigned from the position of head of marketing at ride-hailing company Uber. Gupta was appointed in March last year and used to head marketing initiatives for rides and eats business for India and South Asia. 

Gupta had taken over from Sanjay Gupta, who had moved to Uber US and Canada for a new role. She had joined Uber with over 20 years of experience spanning across consumer goods, banking, e-commerce, and fin-tech.

Gupta started her career with Unilever in India, where she spent around 14 years. Of these, she spent around 8 years and 6 years across two different roles at Colgate Palmolive. Post that, she moved into the banking industry as the Executive Vice-president and Chief Marketing Officer at Axis Bank.

Gupta’s movement comes days after Uber recently sold its food delivery platform Uber Eats to Zomato for around $350 million (Rs 2,485 crore). Uber Eats in India will discontinue operations and direct restaurants, delivery partners, and users of the Uber Eats apps were moved to the Zomato platform.

The company which has witnessed multiple changes in the senior leadership in last two years also saw its Chief Product Officer Manik Gupta leaving the company in December.
