Quikr Acquires Zimmber To Strengthen Its Lead In Household Services

It's the season of Mergers and Acquisitions, across various industries. Quikr has joined the bandwagon of the M&A express by annoucing the acquisition of Zimmber, an on-demand household services provider, to further scale its hyperlocal household services business. This strategic move will help the company accelerate its growth in household services and continue to progress towards its goal of organizing this fragmented category. As part of this, Zimmber will benefit from the strong synergies it has with QuikrServices and other Quikr verticals and also enter into newer markets.

Talking about growing need for on-demand household services, PD Sundar, Head of QuikrServices said, "Household services is an exciting category which is seeing increasing adoption among urban consumers. Given the paucity of time and the increasing level of stress in their everyday lives, these consumers are looking for convenient and reliable solutions to their daily household needs.” On the acquisition of Zimmber, he added that, “The acquisition allows us to further scale our deep stack service capabilities and provide a superior service experience to Quikr users for their high frequency daily needs such as plumbing, cleaning etc. This category perfectly complements our existing marketplace solution for one-off service needs such as interior design, packers and movers etc.”

Founded by Anubhab Goel, Amit Kumar and Gaurav Shrivastava, Zimmber provides on demand home services like plumbing, carpentry, pest control, deep cleaning, sofa and carpet cleaning amongst many others. Zimmber pre-checks all its service partners before enrolling them on the platform and further trains them for the gaps in professionalism and service quality. It is currently operational in Bangalore, MMR, NCR and Pune. Around 1500 service providers have been on-boarded on the platform till date and over 1 lac customers have been served.

Zimmber will continue serving all its on-demand service customers and will continue to focus on service quality. As part of the overall integration process, Amit Kumar, Co-founder & COO and another founding member Siddhartha Srivastava, CPO along with the Zimmber team will continue to drive Zimmber growth under larger Quikr umbrella. The other founders will move on to pursue their interests.

"This move is a result of strong similarities between our vision and Quikr’s. Quikr believes in organizing unstructured markets and has been going deeper in all its verticals – its broad goal of moving closer to transactions and providing consumers better ways  to address their day to day needs directly overlaps with our vision for the household services category. In addition to the synergies between Zimmber and QuikrServices, we also see a great opportunity in offering our services to users in other Quikr verticals such as QuikrHomes, QuikrC2C and QuikrCars. Together we will be serving a larger customer base with varied demands  to bring more trust and efficiency to hyperlocal services market." said Amit Kumar, Co-founder, Zimmber.

With its verticalization strategy and pioneering technology-based innovations, Quikr has been growing both organically and inorganically. It has been steadily scaling each of its verticals and has also made other acquisitions to further accelerate its growth. Under QuikrHomes, it acquired companies such as Grabhouse, Realty Exchange (IRX), Realtycompass and CommonFloor in the last few months. Hiree was acquired under QuikrJobs. Under QuikrServices, it acquired beauty services company Stayglad, Salosa and Zapluk and subsequently launched its own beauty services brand AtHomeDiva.
