Ogilvy India Vice Chairman steps down

Sonal Dabral, the Chief Creative Officer South & South East Asia and Vice-Chairman of its creative agency, Ogilvy, India, has resigned from his role and will be exploring various options in content and content creation.

Having joined Ogilvy from DDB Mudra as Group Chief Creative Officer and Vice Chairman in 2017, Dabral fulfilled a larger role in the APAC region since January of last year. Dabral led the company’s Asia Pacific team along with Reed Collins. From 1991 to 1999, Dabral worked with the agency to later become the creative head of Ogilvy Malaysia and then went on to become the chairman and executive creative director of Ogilvy Singapore.

Dabral returned to India as the Chairman and Regional Creative Director for Bates Asia-Pacific, a WPP-owned advertising and marketing agency post which he took up responsibility at DDB Mudra as Chairman and Chief Creative Officer, prior to returning to Ogilvy in 2017.

With more than three decades of experience in advertising, Dabral has worked on multiple brands across various categories such as Volkswagen, Audi, Hindustan Unilever-owned beauty brand Dove, Fevicol, Tata, AIG, Prudential, and Nestle’s noodle brand, Maggi.

“Sonal was one of my key partners in the creative renaissance at Ogilvy India in the early 1990s. He later moved on to do successful stints as the creative head of Ogilvy Malaysia and Singapore,” said Piyush Pandey, Chief Creative Officer, Worldwide, and Executive Chairman, India, Ogilvy.
