Tech job postings up 13% in January : Indeed

Data from job site Indeed indicates that tech job postings in India were up 13% in January 2021 from a year ago, in January 2020.  A study of tech job postings on the platform, a real-time indicator of labor market activity in India, shows that hiring in tech roles between April 2020 and January 2021 was consistently above pre-pandemic levels, peaking 17% in November 2020. 

Indeed also assessed the fastest growing tech roles in India and companies actively hiring for these roles from 2020 - 2021. 

The top 10 fastest-rising tech jobs in India include:

  • Application Developer
  • IT Security Specialist 
  • Salesforce Developer
  • Site Reliability Engineer
  • Cloud Engineer
  • Business Intelligence Developer
  • Sap Consultant
  • Senior Quality Assurance Engineer
  • Technical Consultant 
  • Automation Engineer

Hiring for tech roles was primarily driven by IT, ITeS, financial services, e-commerce, and consulting sectors. The top 10 companies hiring for these roles in January 2021 included names such as Accenture, JP Morgan Chase, Ernst & Young, Oracle, Genpact, Wells Fargo, Cognizant Technology Solutions, IBM, Wipro, and Capgemini.

As far as the top-paying tech roles in India in 2020 - 2021 are concerned, these were Software Architect, Technical Lead, Cloud Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, and Full Stack Developer.

While many sectors are still yet to get back to the pre-pandemic levels, digitization will continue to have a positive effect on the tech industry going forward this year, a sis evidenced by the rise in tech hiring.
