Tata Trust targets training 1 lakh youth this year

After reports about the expansion of the Google and Tata Trust program, ‘Internet Saathi’ for digital training for the rural to also creating employment opportunities for them, the latest news report states that Tata Trust is also targeting skilling 1 lakh youth this year. For the same, it would be leveraging its collaboration with various government organizations. It is also planning to increase the count of its own count of institutions in the country to facilitate the mission. Currently, it has 12 of its own institutions that it runs in different states.

Talking about Tata Trust’s previous efforts Biswanath Sinha, Tata Trust Head (North East) said in a conference in Assam that though Tata Trust had set the target to train about 1 lakh youth last year, it could only train 20,000. 

Apart from this, Tata Trust is also focused on creating employment opportunities for the youth in the micro and small enterprise industry segment.

Speaking about the target for the same, Sinha said, “We also set a target to start 5,000 micro and small enterprises comprising first generation entrepreneurs every year. In the first year, we helped create 2,000 such units across the country.” 

The focus of the institution in the North East region is on agriculture, education, water, sanitation, skill building.

In Assam itself over the last one year, “Tata Trusts has touched over 30,000 households in 15 districts through projects in agriculture, skill building, education, sports, water and sanitation, health and nutrition among others,” said Partho Patwar, Tata Trust Regional Head (Assam).

The national target of the organization is to touch the lives of 10 crore people by 2021.
