Super Retail Group CEO and MD fired over secret relationship with ex-CHRO
Super Retail Group fires CEO Anthony Heraghty over undisclosed relationship with ex-HR chief. Board wipes incentives; CFO David Burns steps in.
Super Retail Group has announced the termination of its Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Heraghty, with immediate effect.
The group advises that it has terminated the employment of Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Anthony Heraghty, effective immediately.
“The Board made this decision after receiving new information from Heraghty regarding his relationship with the company’s former Chief Human Resources Officer. In light of this new information, the Board has concluded Heraghty’s prior disclosures were not satisfactory,” said the company in a statement.
The Board will carefully consider the implications this may have for the company and any related matters. The Board has exercised its discretion to lapse Heraghty's incentives, which include all unvested incentives and vested but unexercised rights.
David Burns, Chief Financial Officer, has been appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer while the company undertakes a search for Heraghty’s replacement.
