Snapdeal, India’s largest value e-commerce company, has announced the appointment of Girish Koppad, as the company’s Vice President & Head of Technology. As a global tech leader, Girish has worked in large and entrepreneurial setups across the US, India, Russia & Africa, helping build innovative products to serve internet users in markets around the world. 

At Snapdeal, Girish will lead Technology Engineering and will spearhead development and services for technology infrastructure and data centers. He will lead the technology team in its continuing mission to further grow the platform’s capabilities to offer an enabling, intuitive and engaging experience to the millions of users who choose Snapdeal for its deep and unrivaled assortment of value merchandise.

Speaking on his appointment, Girish said “It’s an exciting phase for consumer internet in India and I am looking forward to contributing towards Snapdeal’s vision of an e-commerce platform with a distinct focus on value e-commerce, by building products and solutions to best serve millions of customers in India’s metros, cities and beyond.”

Girish brings more than 20 years of experience in product development and management across diverse areas including wireless infrastructure, mobile, SaaS-based Cloud Computing platforms. He most recently served as the Senior Director of Engineering at Samsung Electronics. In his previous stints, he has held a wide range of senior management positions at Google, TiVO and Motorola. At Google, Girish led the design, development, and launch of the hugely popular smartphones including Moto X, Moto G and Moto E. At TiVo, Girish was instrumental in product definition, roadmap, and engineering to launch an Entertainment Discovery MetaData catalog serving 70 countries with user personalization, search, recommendations, conversations, and Knowledge Graph API services layered across the content discovery catalogue.
