With India’s population aging rapidly and the caregiver burden increasing, organisations are rethinking what inclusive benefits truly mean.

Amid India’s shifting demographic landscape and the growing need for elder care support, Google India has introduced a dedicated Elder Care Program for its employees.

Announcing the initiative on LinkedIn, Shraddhanjali Rao, Head of HR at Google India, highlighted the personal and collective challenges employees face while balancing careers with caregiving responsibilities.

The program is designed to offer employees peace of mind by ensuring their loved ones receive support across three key pillars:

Emotional Wellbeing: Combating loneliness through personalised assistance, online engagement, support groups, and regular check-in calls.

Physical Wellbeing: Offering full-body checkups, doctor tele-consultations, quarterly home visits, and access to vetted home care professionals.

Safety Support: Ensuring round-the-clock emergency coordination, 24/7 doctor-on-call access, ambulance services, and virtual elder care consultations for home safety.

“The Google Elder Care Program reinforces our commitment to fostering a supportive and empathetic culture that truly understands and responds to the multifaceted lives of our employees,” said Rao.

She concluded with a message of deep respect: “To those who now steady the hands that once guided them — the resilience, patience, and incredible strength you bring to your families every single day is an inspiration.”
