The primary difference between humans and other species is the instinctive urge of humans to be social. As a result of that, humans have been able to gain superiority over other life forms on earth. Humans are more productive and more useful when they are engaged. Engaged people make better spouses and better parents. Also, engaged people are more productive. It is important for employees to feel that they have meaningful work in order to be engaged. In the absence of making an employee feel valued and highlight the meaning of his/her work, the organisation cannot expect the employee to provide the full value that is expected out of the employee.
