Cathay Pacific appoints Mark Sutch as Regional GM for SAMEA

Cathay Pacific Group has appointed Mark Sutch as the new Regional General Manager for the region of South Asia, Middle East & Africa (RGM, SAMEA). 

Mark Sutch has been a dedicated employee with Cathay Pacific Airways for the past two decades.

Previously the General Manager Cargo Sales & Marketing for Cathay Pacific, Mark was responsible for commercial aspects of their global cargo business. Cargo revenue management, customer solutions, partnerships and all marketing and sales activities fell under his area of responsibility. Previous roles held with Cathay Pacific include the positions of Country Manager in France, Philippines and Sri Lanka as well an operational role within the Flight Operations Department. Mark would be replacing Charlie Stewart-Cox previous Regional General Manager, SAMEA.

Mark said, “We see potential in the Indian aviation sector. To be the third largest aviation market by 2026 is a tremendous goal, and it is a testament to the potential that the market beholds. Likewise, at Cathay Pacific, we see significant opportunities in the growing Indian economy. Hence, we are delighted to announce a capacity increase out of Mumbai.” Cathay Pacific Group announced capacity increase with the introduction of Boeing 777 aircraft on the Mumbai – Hong Kong route, bringing back the Premium Economy cabin with it. This change will mark a 21% increase in passenger capacity and 67% increase in cargo capacity out of Mumbai on Cathay Pacific flights. 

He further added, “At Cathay Pacific, we are constantly striving to provide our customers with an enriched flying experience. Bringing back the Premium Economy is in alignment with our brand philosophy and enables us to create a Life Well Travelled experience for our passengers.”

The airline has had a presence in India for over 65 years. Cathay Pacific is also one of the biggest air cargo operators in India with scheduled freighter services to and from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
