Ireena Vittal exits from Axis Bank

Ireena Vittal's abrupt resignation as an independent director from the board of Axis Bank citing conflict of interest issues has set tongues wagging in corporate circles, with chatter ranging from what constitutes corporate morality to even gender bias. Ireena's husband Gopal Vittal is the CEO of Bharti Airtel, which won a payment bank licence in partnership with Axis Bank's rival Kotak Mahindra Bank.
