Coal India executives go on 3-day strike

Nearly 97 per cent of the 14,800 Coal India officers stayed away from duty on Thursday, the first day of a three-day strike called by the Coal Mine Officers’ Association of India (CMOI). The agitation was called in protest against prolonged indecision on payment of performance-related pay (PRP). Agreed in the 2007 wage agreement, the payment could not be released due to problems in the guidelines issued by the Department of Public Enterprises. Meanwhile, there has been some effort from the Union Government to resolve the issue.
