Ex-Cognizant executive to head Infosys’ consulting business

Infosys has appointed Mark Livingston to head the consulting business. Livingston's appointment comes in the wake of Ken Toombs resigning as head of the consulting unit in October. 

Livingston was earlier working as the  Executive Vice- President of the Consulting division. As a Global Business Leader for all management consulting operations at Cognizant, Livingston was managing over 6,500 person management consulting P&L: North America, Latin America, Europe, and India. 

Livingston has about 39 years of working experience and he started his professional career as a Nuclear Missile Officer. In his journey until now, he has demonstrated a history of working in the consulting, information technology and services industry. He has worked with well-known companies like Deloitte Consulting, Grant Thornton LLP. He joined A.T. Kearney in 1995 as a Partner, and in 2005, he was appointed as the  Managing Partner & CEO - Latin America.

After spending about 13 years in A.T. Kearney, Livingston joined the Consulting division of Cognizant in 2008 as the Executive Vice-President.

Earlier, it was speculated that Infosys CEO, Salil Parekh is looking to hire talent from outside the company. With Livingston's appointment, it is confirmed that Parekh is looking out for external expertise in areas in which Infosys does not have the required skill sets. With Livingston's appointment,
