Budget 2023: Push of digital infra, upskilling, research & development
The government has announced to leverage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in top educational institutes in the country. Three Centres of Excellence for AI will be set up in top educational institutions. Besides, the setting up of digital libraries has been announced to improve access to quality education.
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana PMKVY 4.0 would upskill lakhs of youth and provide job opportunities globally. Unified Skill India Digital Platform will be set up too.
With an aim to make India a skill capital of the world and improve mobility of skilled manpower, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) International has been set up, which aims to create a network of institutions across India, said the Economic Survey released on Tuesday. It said that this network of institutions will be called the Skill India International (SII) Network. It shall be created through the empanelment of state-of-the-art government and private institutions.
ICMR labs are to be established for research and development and will be made open for private and public institutions to encourage collaboration and innovations.
The government has announced research and development grants for the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).
Sitharaman said the impetus for job creation and economic empowerment of youth key focus.
While presenting her fifth straight budget 2023-24 in Parliament, she announced that the government will launch Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0. The scheme will skill the youth for international opportunities. FM said that 30 Skill India International Centres will be set up across different States.
This is the Modi government’s last full-fledged Budget before the Lok Sabha polls of 2024. On the first day of the Parliament’s Budget session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Budget 2023 by FM Sitharaman will aim to fulfill the aspirations of the common man.
To skill the youth for international opportunities, 30 Skill India International Centres will be set up across different states, she added.
Thrust on skill development
About 1.1 crore persons have been trained and 21.4 lakh placed under the second phase of the government's flagship skilling scheme PMKVY, said the Economic Survey 2022-23 tabled in Parliament on Tuesday.
