Across geographies, organizations tend to rely most heavily on recommendations from supervisors to identify high-potential talent. When identifying high-potential talent, 31% of companies focus all the way to the individual contributor level, although countries in Asia Pacific are less likely than other geographies to go this deep.

While recommendations from superiors are useful and frequently used in identifying high-potential talent, Right Management advises clients to also use assessments for more objectivity.

Dale Watson, Vice President Principal Consultant at Right Management in the Americas, noted that an organization can find high-potential talent wher- ever it exists once there is a good model and definition for high-potentials in place, combined with the use of proper assessment tools deployed to find it.
