Philippines emerges the top market for advertising, marketing professionals

The overall hiring activity in the Philippines reached double-digit growth of 16% for the month of August. The growth is in line with the growth showed during the month of June and July, at 13% and 16% respectively. The growth, however, comes in sharp contrast to countries like Singapore and Malaysia where the growth is not significant for the month of August, while Malaysia experiencing an annual decline of 8%. The findings are based on the latest Monster Employment Index (MEI), a monthly tracker of online hiring activity across Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines tracked by Monster.com.

In fact, Singapore’s year-on-year growth for marketing talent in August was just 1%, which marks a 5% drop from the 6% annual growth recorded in July. Malaysia however, was consistent in performance in terms of growth in the advertising and marketing sector, registering an 8% annual decline for both July and August.

In terms of online growth of marketing and communication roles, the Philippines also performed well with a double-digit growth of 18% in August. Malaysia and Singapore recorded a year-on-year decline of 4% and 1% respectively.

According to Abhijeet Mukherjee, the chief executive officer for the Asia Pacific and Middle East at Monster.com, marketing, and mobile advertising is gradually gaining momentum across several Southeast Asian countries. This is because of the fact a number of countries especially developing one in this region, are banking on smart devices to access the Internet.
