India is emerging as a global leader in the adoption of agentic AI, according to a recent survey by IBM in collaboration with Oxford Economics.
The study underscores how Indian business leaders are outpacing global peers in embedding AI deeply across core business functions. The survey reveals that 78% of Indian executives believe the greatest value of agentic AI lies in enhancing decision-making, while an equal percentage are actively encouraging employees to experiment with agentic AI tools.
This strong top-down push signals not only a culture of innovation but also a forward-looking mindset that sees AI as a strategic enabler. To further accelerate this transformation, IBM has launched its Agentic AI Innovation Center in Bengaluru, offering Indian enterprises, startups, and partners a hands-on environment to build, fine-tune, and deploy autonomous AI agents.
At the core of this effort is IBM watsonx Orchestrate, which enables seamless orchestration and management of AI agents across existing tech stacks. “We are entering a new era of AI—one defined by intelligent agents that don’t just assist but act, adapt, and collaborate in real time,” said Dinesh Nirmal, Senior Vice President, IBM Software.
“The IBM Agentic AI Center brings this vision to life by urging local enterprises to evolve their AI strategy from reactive to proactive.” Sandip Patel, Managing Director, IBM India and South Asia, added, “AI is no longer just the future—it is reshaping India today. The rise of agentic AI is accelerating innovation to meet evolving business needs.”
With the opening of the center and the survey findings as validation, IBM is aiming to foster industry-wide collaboration, promote homegrown AI innovation, and ensure real-world impact through scalable, governed AI adoption.
