Hush, an Employee focused HR tech platform, recently revealed the findings of its survey, ‘India Employee Survey’ with IT companies which explained that 83 percent of employees want the Government should stipulate the notice period to a month.
The employees feel the organizations misuse the notice period as the three month notice period is used as a mere retention tool by employers and it creates anxiety among employees.
The survey saw the participation of 2800 employees from IT companies such as TCS, Wipro, Accenture, etc across Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Chennai.

The key findings from the survey also include:
- Eight out every ten employees cited favoritism to play a part with an employee being relieved earlier than their stipulated notice period.
- Knowledge transfer is another debated issue as 91 percent of employees are of the opinion that efficient knowledge transfer is not a valid reason that justifies a prolonged notice period.
- 93 percent of employees said that they were inconvenienced by a three month notice period and were forced to miss out on better opportunities. Around 83 percent feel that one month is the ideal length of a notice period that IT companies should enforce.
